October 20, 2007 (Milton, Ontario) – On October 27-28 the Speed River Cycling Club, North America Construction, Speed River Bicycle and Even Construction will be presenting the Speed River Halloween ‘cross race. The venue will be the Kelso Conservation area in Milton, Ontario.
The current technical guide can be found here. The purpose of this page is to provide up-to-date information concerning the race plus a detailed (as possible) description of the two different race courses.
Of great importance is that we WILL be offering one day licenses for 5$ at registration. This is great news and hopefully we will see a bigger M3 and S3/4 field as a result. The race fee does NOT include the 5$ (taxes incl.) per person gate fee for access to the park. It is cash only so be sure to be ready.
Event parking will be in the same location as years past, the boat rental parking lot to the east of the main dam. Come in the main gate and hang your first right and you will drive right into the parking lot.
The course has been finalized and there have been a great many changes from the years past. There will be NO stair run up off of the beach, we will not be crossing the dam at any point during any of the races, the courses have been shortened and great effort has been undertaken to make the courses more in line with UCI rules (as terrain will allow). We have attempted to (as terrain allows) to make the courses more spectator friendly and we hope to see a great turnout!
In regards to the following images course #1 is located to the east of the dam and uses a large portion of what has traditionally been our Sunday course. Course #2 is located to the southwest of the dam and surrounds the heinous long run up from last years Saturday course (note: the run up that is referenced is not being used). Which course is used on which day has yet to be decided.
