A completely new concept in seatposts, the Pavé from Specialized seeks to smooth out the high-frequency vibrations of the road even more substantially than traditionally compliant carbon posts. A viscoelastic polymer insert is pressure-fitted into the post below the clamp, and is intended to assist the vibration-damping characteristics of the
carbon fibre. After several hundred kilometres, we were convinced that the post succeeds admirably, taking the edge off larger bumps without the sharp kickback common in many traditional carbon posts, while still providing the small-bump compliance that ensures comfort on long rides. Weighing in at 218 grams, the full 350mm length makes the Pavé suitable for standard and compact frames. The SRP is $179.99. www.specialized.com
