Specialized Issues Voluntary Recall of Over 12,000 Forks

by pedalmag.com

January 28, 2013 – Specialized has issued a voluntary recall of an estimated 12,200 bicycle forks due to the possibility of failure on all models of the Specialized 2012 and 2013 Tarmac SL4, 2013 Crux and 2013 Secteur Disc bicycles and framesets sold from July 2011 to January 2013. The front fork steerer tube can break, posing a fall hazard.

Specialized advises that owners of these bikes stop riding these bicycles immediately and return the bicycle or frameset to an Authorized Specialized Dealer for a free inspection and, if appropriate, repair.

Affected Bicycles and Framesets:
– TARMAC SL4 2012, 2013 ALL
– CRUX 2013 ALL
– SECTEUR DISC 2013 ALL
