May 4, 2004 – The second round of the SISU BC Cup Series on May 1 & 2 was marked by several important milestones; a welcome return of road racing to the Okanagan Valley, a new, and previously untried race format – a two-person time trial, and finally, a race weekend hosted by the good folks at Skookum Cycles, better known for organizing off-road events in years past.

With a new race format not before seen within the Series, the two-person, 36km time trail proved to be a very welcome – and exciting – addition to the Series, with rave reviews coming from many of the weekend's racers. Dubbed as the “Race of Truth,” the two-person time trial puts a slightly different twist on the a standard TT, with two riders with equal ability fighting the clock, relying on a mix of strength, talent, and determination to get to the finish together.  In the end, familiar faces climbed the top step of the podium, as the Solo by Rocky Mountain/Adobe duo of Scott Slater and two-time SISU Series Champion Matt Usborne powered to victory with an average speed of over 47km/h!  Trek-Volkswagen's pairing of Segato/Goncalves and Dawson/Neil would finish in second and third that afternoon, with less than two minutes separating the top three groups.

With only 44 seconds between first and fourth, the Women's battle for round two of the Championship proved to be very close indeed.  With the course profile favoring strength and power, the twosome of Prazsky (Symmetrics) and MacGregor (Dizzy Chicks) stole victory from Fletcher/Zimich (Dizzy Chicks) and Trek-VW rider Neil/Issel (unattached).

The next round of the SISU BC Cup promises to build on the excitement already seen in the Series, with the challenging climbs of Hatzic Valley welcoming riders of the Norm Lowe Memorial Road Race.  For details, and to register, check out www.teamsoliton.com.
