November 24, 2015 (Victoria, BC) – Canada’s Mical Dyck (Naked Bikes) earned the golden bikini and requisite champion’s tattoo when she won the women’s Single Speed Cyclo-cross world title in Victoria this past weekend. The Canadian CX Champion has won the event in the past, as has the men’s winner, American Adam Craig (Giant Factory Racing), who earned his fourth consecutive title on Sunday.
It was the first time the event was held in Canada and it drew hundreds of single-geared cyclo-cross enthusiasts to Vancouver Island to participate in the shenanigans that traditionally accompany the race, which saw qualification “feats of strength” on Saturday determine who would participate in the championship final on Sunday.
Sunday’s race took place at Western Speedway and featured a “boat jump”, snow pile, shot handups that allowed racers to take a shorter route, crazy costumes, and other non-UCI-legal obstacles.
