Simms and McKenzie Win Single Speed Cyclocross World Titles

release by Cross on the Rock

October 26, 2010 (Seattle, WA) – I know you guys are all HUNGRY for the details for the Victoria Double Header weekend. They will be out on Wednesday. We have some good stuff lined up for you so if you are on the fence, plan on falling on the side of RACING IN VICTORIA! In the meantime, we just wanted to report the following:

ISLAND RACERS DOMINATE THE SINGLE SPEED CYCLOCROSS WORLD CHAMPS!!

Yes it is true!

Wendy Simms (Ridley) and Drew MacKenzie (who is also the only human that has both a SSCXWC AND NISSCOTU championships) took it all down in true single speed fashion yesterday in Seattle. Costumed, beer hand ups, mud, drinking, racing… they did it all. Representing the island in great fashion.

Also from the Cross on the Rock Series racing the Championships and representing the Island were Katie and Rolland Rabien, Tanya Berg, Joele Guynup and Eric Bruvall.

We are thinking that we might have to host a race up here and have the San Francisco racers challenge Wendy and Drew to take the title belts back to their event next year… NISSCOTU #2: 2011.

Wendy posted a blog report on the event here

And here are a few photos as well.
