Settimana Ciclistica Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali Stages 1a, 1b and 2 – Ulissi Leads

March 21, 2013 (Gatteo Mare, Italy) – The Settimana Ciclistica Internazionale di Coppi e Bartali kicked off in Italy with a two-stage first day. Stage 1a featured a 99.5km road race starting and finishing in Gatteo, which was swept by host countrymen Fabio Felline (Ita) Androni Giocattoli, Mattia Gavazzi (Ita) Androni Giocattoli, and Alessandro Bazzana (Ita) UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling. Canadians Guillaume Boivin (Can) Cannondale Pro Cycling, Will Routley (Can) Accent Jobs – Wanty, and David Boily (Can) Amore & Vita finished 153rd, 161st, and 190th, respectively.

Stage 1b was a 11.196km team time trial from Sant’Angelo to Gatteo Mare won by Team Katusha – A in 13:15. Team Cannondale Pro Cycling – B finished second, followed by Team Team NetApp – Endura – A. Maxim Belkov (Rus) Katusha was leading the GC.

Diego Ulissi (Ita) Lampre-Merida became the new race leader following his victory on Stage 2 today from Gatteo to Sogliano al Rubicone, 162.3km. Canada’s Will Routley (Can) Accent Jobs-Wanty, Guillaume Boivin (Can) Cannondale Pro Cycling, and David Boily (Can) Amore & Vita, are ranked 75th, 109th, and 121st, respectively.
