Selection Criteria for BC Team – Tour de l’Abitibi

March 13, 2006 – Cycling BC released today the selection criteria for Junior Male athletes hoping to compete as part of Team BC at the Tour de l’Abitibi.

Selection Criteria
Athletes are not obligated to participate in all selection events. Riders may earn more points by competing in more than one event, however, only the best seven finishes will be considered in the selection process.

Selection Events
April 29 – Race the Ridge TT – TT
April 30 – Race the Ridge Crit – Crit
May 6 – Warp Speed Time Trial – TT
May 7 – Hatzic Valley RR – RR
May 13 – Atomic SR – TT
May 13 – Atomic SR – Circuit Race
May 14 – Atomic SR – RR
May 27 – Gary Lund RR – RR
May 28 – Bastion Square Crit – Crit

Unless otherwise directed, Abitibi qualifiers MUST race in Category 3.

Points from the identified events will be distributed according to the following scale. The placings pertain to BC Team candidates only, and NOT to the overall finishers in that event.

POINTS STRUCTURE: 12 pts, 10 pts, 8 pts, 6 pts, 5 pts, 4 pts, 3 pts, 2 pts, All finishers’..1 point

Rider Selection: 3 Committee Choice – 3 Points Based
Three of the six team members selected for this Project will be based on points earned from the identified selection events. An additional three riders will be identified by the High Performance Committee based on a combination of results and feedback provided by onsite coaching staff. The final Team selection will be performed by the High Performance Committee.

Interested Junior-aged riders should submit a brief race resume in the form of an email/letter expressing interest to the Project Coach, Ed Schum, at edschum@shaw.ca, or Allan Prazsky, road@cycling.bc.ca.
