April 25, 2012 (Monterey, CA) – Alison Powers (NOW and Novartis for MS) and Andy Jacques-Maynes (Kenda/5-Hour Energy) successfully defended their GC leads in the elite women’s and men’s competitions, respectively.

Both 2012 Sea Otter Classic Road Stage Race Champions dominated on the weekend, grabbing the lead on Stage 1 and never relinquishing control through to the final stage, the Laguna Seca Circuit race. Powers won Stage 4, while Jacques-Maynes placed third, which was still good enough for the overall win. James Wingert (Team Mike’s Bikes) took the elite men’s Stage 4 victory.

Heather Logan-Sprenger (Exergy TWENTY12 ) was the top Canadian woman on Stage 4, finishing sixth, while Mathieu Roy (EKOI.com-Gaspesien) grabbed the Canadian men’s honours, placing seventh.

In the overall GC, the top Canuck female was Anne Samplonius (NOW and Novartis for MS) in seventh, while Jordan Brochu (EKOI.com-Gaspesien) was the best Canadian men’s finisher in 38th.
