April 17, 2005 (Monterey, CA) – Sabrina Jonnier (FRA, Intense) pulled off the win in the women’s race yesterday, despite a crash and the fact that Tracey Moseley (USA, Kona-Les Gets) beat her to the finish in the final run. The winner was determined by combined times and Jonnier had beat out Moseley in the previous two runs, which gave her the edge. Moseley finished second and Jill Kintner (USA) was third. Canada’s Claire Buchar (CAN, BeOne) placed 9th.
In the men’s race, it was gravity superstar Nathan Rennie (AUS, Santa Cruz Syndicate) who came out on top, followed by Bryn Atkinson (USA, G.T.) and Fabien Barel (FRA, Kona-Les Gets), who placed second and third, respectively.
The dual slalom course showed signs of wear after enduring the three days of practice runs, but the ruts didn’t seem to slow riders down as they ripped it up in the crowd-pleasing event.
