April 19, 2004 – Sunday's race was an epic two laps of 30K each. After climbing up the motorway and onto some doubletrack it was a race for the hole shot into the singletrack, that began with some fast and furious, stutter bumps descents meandering down into the valley. The rest of the course included constantly rolling terrain with open doubletrack ridges in the wind, lots of winding singletrack, and sandy back wrenching power climbs.

In the men's race, a group of eight formed off the front with an eight-second gap. At the end of the first lap. Liam Killem (Subaru-Gary Fisher) attacked and was followed by Jeremy Horgan-Kolbelski (RLX Ralph Lauren) and Geoff Kabush (Maxxis). Behind Meiraeghe, Roland Green and Thomas Frischknecht (Swisspower/Scott) chased. Once back together starting into lap two, Meiraeghe and Kabush pulled away from the rest and eventually extended their lead to over a minute by the finish. Kabush noted that Meiraeghe did most of the work the last lap. Kabush attempted an attack on the last climb but Meiraeghe responded and once on the race track pulled away by 16 seconds by the finish.

Barbara Blatter (Specialized) , Chrissy Redden (Subaru-Gary Fisher) and Alison Dunlap (Luna Chix) lead out lap one of the women's race, which remained unusually tight with the first nine staying together and switching around off the back of the front group much of the race. Five broke away on the final climb and were left to contest the final sprint on the raceway. The top ten all finished within one minute and twenty seconds of each other. Kiara Bisaro (Gears Racing) summed up a super week of racing with her fifth place today and solidifying a second place in the overall, “Today was one of the best days of my life. I raced SO hard and finished it off with one of the best meals ever with my team!”

Mark Batty continued his winning streak by taking the win in the junior cross-country race today after a close second place in yesterday's short track.
