April 17, 2018 – After carefully listening to riders requests, and realizing the numbers of riders attending this year’s Canada MTB Cup in Baie St. Paul, Que. (May 20), Superfly Racing and the OCA have reconsidered our options in the wake of the cancellation of Ontario Cup #1 in Mansfield (April 22).
Realizing the May long weekend was not optimal, and looking at a schedule where no other weekends are available, we are following in the footsteps of many cross races and world cups, and having a double-event weekend on a previously booked Ontario Cup date. The Albion Endur-O-Cup on July 28-29 will now feature back-to-back events for O-Cup MTB #5 and #6. The long, Enduro format will continue on Saturday, while Sunday will be a separate event for full points – a slightly shortened, standard lap event. Riders on Sunday can expect overall times to be approx. 25% less, on a standard, 7.5 – 8km course. We will ride many trails in reverse, and really shake up the feel of the course. Albion is the perfect venue, as it is close to the GTA, has loads of on-site camping, and we can easily accommodate the two events on back-to-back days.
While this decision may not be ideal for everyone, we have talked to a variety of stakeholders and decided this is the best option, in wake of incredibly adverse weather conditions that have plagued the start of the season.
