August 18, 2009 (Mt. Washington, NH) – Sue Schlatter of Stevens Racing presented by The Cyclery took the top women’s spot in the 2009 edition of the Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hill Climb. Held on August 15, Sue finished in a time of 1:07:47, over two minutes ahead of last year’s winner and 23rd overall from a field of over 500 riders.
On a near perfect day, Schlatter was successful in her second attempt at ‘the mountain’ having finished second in 2006, a mere six seconds behind. “It [Mt Washington] is a climb you have to really respect.” But according to Sue, “It’s when I’m going uphill that I’m happy.” On this day, it really showed.
