May 20, 2008 – Canada’s BMX star and 2008 Beijing hopeful, Sam Cools, from Alberta, recently missed the UCI Supercross #3 in Copenhagen, Denmark on May 11 and the 2008 Canadian BMX Championships this past weekend in Abbotsford, BC, and we’ve been looking into her status. Apparently Cools injured her back in early May and fortunately it turned out to be less serious, as she only pinched a nerve. She is back in Canada resting and focused on performing well at the 2008 BMX Worlds, May 29-June 1 in Taiyuan, China, and on the Beijing Olympic Games in August. Canada is 8th in the UCI Nations rankings and have secured one women’s berth for the Olympics.
