September 21, 2006 (Salzburg, Austria) — Here are more photos from the Elite Women’s and U23 Men’s TT. We also caught up with Canada’s Alex Wrubleski and Anne Samplonius for some comments on yesterday’s races.
Alex Wrubleski on her crash: “I had a pretty hard hit. It was with about five or six kilometres to go and I had my head down for a bit too long. I looked up and was about a metre away from the curb. It all happened really fast and I hit the curb with my knee. I was on a good ride, probably about top 15 or 20. It’s starting to feel a lot better now and I’ve been taking anti-inflammatories. By the way it’s feeling I should be OK for Saturday’s race.”
Anne Samplonius on her TT: “I didn’t have the best legs during the first one to two kilometres but by the end I had given it 100% and I couldn’t have pushed any harder, although I am still a little disappointed. It was a very hard course, lots of false flats and I couldn’t find my rhythm.” On the upcoming RR: “I want to redeem myself from today’s race. It’s going to be Sue Palmer’s last race and it will be fun to try and put her on the podium. I think she can do it, she certainly still has the ability.”
