RWR/Peak Winter Series – Stage 3

December 26, 2007 – The past five days have seen people rushing to Christmas activities and family obligations. Amongst all of the chaos, 31 riders found the time to take part in stage 3 of the Ride with Rendall/Peak Winter Racing Series.

Perhaps fueled by Christmas treats or pushed by a tight time window, Mike Nash (40:05.3) wasted little time in obliterating the field on the hilly stage 3 course. Nash powered along averaging an impressive 373 watts to take his second stage win of this year’s series. Patrick Seguin and Jim Tsilemos rode to second and third place, respectively, with times of 42:38.9 and 43:16.4.

In the women’s field, Sue Schlatter shook things up with her first start and first stage win of the series when she clocked a time of 45:35.3, which was good enough for sixth overall on the stage. Last year’s GC Champion returned to the top spot of the podium by out climbing GC leader Tenille Hoogland (47:10.9). Wendy Blagdon finished in third with a time of 51:23.3.

Stage 4 takes place this weekend in various centers across Canada. (Check with your center for holiday heat times and schedules). The rolling course will be also be highlighted by being the first stage of four designated as Sprint stages in the Maxxis Sprint Competition. Riders’ maximum wattage at the end of the stage will be divided into their body weight to see just who is the stage’s Sprint King/Queen.

The Ride with Rendall/Peak Winter Racing Indoor Series is designed for fun and fitness, with the overall GC based on points. The series is for all levels of ability, so come for the racing or come for the training and social aspect of it.
