December 21, 2006 – A total of 93 riders nation-wide took part in Stage 3rd of the RWR/ Peak Winter Racing Series held in Vancouver, Ottawa, Canmore, and Montreal. Prior to the start , all eyes focused Sue Schlatter and Warren MacDonald to see if they could extend their win streaks and challenge the course records. While Sue and Warren both notched up another win to further their GC leads , an East coast/West coast battle is beginning to take shape just behind with many riders coming closer to the leaders times on both coasts.

Sue Schlatter posted an early time of 39:51.4 over the 22.53km course to take the win over Vancouver’s Leah and Krista Guloien . The two riders battled each other onto the podium with times of 41:01:0 and 41.08.8 to take second and third respectively. Following closely for 4th place was Ottawa’s Cynthia Wilson with a time of 41:13.7.

In the men’s field, Warren MacDonald narrowly held on to the win with a time of 36:20.8 despite the hard rides put in by Ottawa’s Marc Boudreau (36:26.6) and Vancouver’s Mike McIvor (37:33.5). Warren’s slim 6 second win serves notice that a change in leadership might be on the horizon with the race going into the mountains for the next stage.

Stage 4 of the 17 stage RWR/ Peak Winter Series will take place this coming weekend and with heats in Vancouver, Ottawa , Canmore and Montreal. The 17 race indoor series is designed for fun and fitness with the overall GC based on points. The series is for all levels of ability so come for the racing or come for the training and social aspect of it. If you have never experienced multirider racing before, the first ride is free so come on out.
