March 16, 2007 – Stage 14 of the RWR/Peak Winter Racing series presented riders with a stiff climb right off the start. From that point Marc Boudreau took charge and started distancing himself from the rest of the field until a long downhill brought Warren MacDonald into striking distance. However, the battle was short lived when the course pointed upwards again and Marc pulled away for good and finished with a time of 42:06.6. Left in his wake, a group of 6 riders battled for the remaining podium spots with Warren MacDonald (44:22.3) holding on to second. Third place went to Rick Sudac with a time of 44:53.7.
The woman’s field held few surprises with the Cyclery’s Sue Schlatter proving once again to be the class of the field. Sue set a blistering pace of 32.72km/h to finish with a time of 45:51.5 over the hilly 25.42km course. Proving power to weight means everything; second place went to 15yr old Lindsay Anderson who finished with a time of 51:08.9 while third went to Cynthia Wilson with a time of 51.33.7
With three races left in the 17-stage RWR/ Winter Series, riders will once again return to the series TT course this weekend for Stage 15. Riders will have once last crack at breaking the course records held by Aaron Fillion (34:17.6) and Natasha Elliot (38:02.6).
The TT is the only stage of the 17-race series that is repeated so riders can try to set new course records and personal bests on a profile that is used once a month throughout the series. Right now the challenge is out to see if anyone can beat Natasha or Aaron’s course records. Remember new riders to the series ride for free the first time out so you have nothing to loose.
