RWR/Peak Winter Racing Series – Stage 2

December 14, 2006 – Stage 2 of the RWR/Peak Winter Racing series presented riders with a relentless series of climbs over a 25.75km course. Fueled by his Stage 1 victory, RWR Elite team rider Warren MacDonald averaged an impressive 37.24km/h to take another stage win.

In the woman’s field a new challenger emerged once again when the Cyclery’s Sue Schlatter joined the series. Sue set a blistering pace of 34.02km/h to finish with a time of 45:29.9. Not only was this good enough to take the win over last weeks winner Tenille Hoogland (46:50.3), but the time was good enough for 5th place overall.

3. Lois Tay 44:53.8

Woman’s Stage 2
1. Sue Schlatter 45:24.9
2. Tenille Hoogland 46:50.3
3. Cynthia Wilson 47:18.2

In the upcoming Stage 3 , riders will be competing on the Series Time Trial Course for the first time this season at heats in Vancouver, Ottawa , Canmore and Montreal. The TT is the only course in the 17 race series that will be repeated to enable riders to set course records and personnel best times on a profile that will be used once a month in the series. The current course records are held by Aaron Fillion and Natasha Elliott. Aaron’s time of 34:36.7 was set last year while Natasha’s time of 38:02.6 has held since the 2005 series.

The 17 race indoor series is designed for fun and fitness with the overall GC based on points. Riders of all abilities will race in waves of 5 to 8 on multilinked computrainers to determine the results of each the stage with full results appearing on www.ridewithrendall.com . If you have never experienced multirider racing before, the first ride is free so grab your bike and come on out.
