December 8, 2005 – The Winter Racing season is now underway with the completion of Stage 1 of the RWR/ Peak Winter Series. On a course filled with rolling hills and power climbs, AAron Fillion of the Ottawa bicycle Club held of all challengers on his way to Victory finishing with a time of 35min39.8sec. Colin Edwards from Penticton BC was in hot pursuit his entire ride to finish second with a time of 35:59.6. Sean Wakefield from the Ride with Rendall team took 3rd with a time of 37:34.1.
In the women’s field, Sue Shlatter posted a solid ride with a time of 40:32.7 . Sue’s time was fast enough to place her 11th overall in the men’s field. Second place went to Cynthia Clarke who finished with a time of 41:07.3 (12th overall). Completing the podium was Cyclefit’s Lisa O’connor.
The Ride with Rendall/Peak Winter Series is a 16 race series designed for fun and fitness with racers going head to head in eight rider heats on Multilinked Computrainers. Not only has the series been expanded in Ottawa with heats in both locations, now Vancouver riders will have an opportunity to challenge the east coast riders on the same courses for GC and stage titles starting.
