Rutland-Melton International CiCLE Classic – Canada’s Sparling 2nd

by pedalmag.com
April 29, 2012 (Oakham, Leicestershire) – Canada’s Jamie Sparling (Raleigh-GAC) placed second at the Rutland-Melton International CiCLE Classic, 160km, on Sunday behind winner Alexandre Blain (Endura Racing) – Sparling also won the KOM classification and jersey. Rain and strong winds meant very few of the 150 starters finished the race which was shortened from the original 182.4km distance. A trio of riders including Blain, Sparling and Yanto Barker (UK Youth) formed at the front followed by a chase group of three. Blain tried several attacks and finally escaped for the win with Sparling taking second and James McCallum (Rapha Condor-Sharp) third – read the full report here.
