Rocky Mountain Bicycles Recalls 2018 Altitude, Instinct and Pipeline Models

December 29, 2017 (St-Georges, Que.) – Rocky Mountain Bicycles is recalling 2018 Altitude, Instinct and Pipeline models as the brake cable housing was not secured properly during manufacturing, which can cause brake failure, posing a crash hazard to the rider. As of Dec. 20, 2017, no reports of incident or injury in Canada have been received. In the United States, the company has also received no reports of incident or injury. From June 2017 to December 2017, approximately 1,800 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, and approximately 1,300 were sold in the United States.

Consumers should stop using the recalled bicycles immediately and contact an authorized Rocky Mountain dealer for free inspection and free repair.

Consumers may view the release by the US CPSC on the Commission’s website.

Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
