April 16, 2010 (Monterey, CA) – Rocky Mountain Bicycles is pleased to announce the media launch of its all-new 2011 Slayer platform at the Sea Otter Classic, April 15-18 in Monterey, California. Slayer, first introduced in 2001, has proven to be one of Rocky Mountain’s most successful platforms and has catered to the needs of all-mountain riders since the birth of the category.

Alex Cogger, Rocky Mountain’s product manager, commented “The 2011 redesign of Slayer stays true to its do-it-all roots and by using new technologies we’ve created a bike that meets the rapidly evolving all-mountain/enduro dh category. Riders now want an incredibly stiff and strong bike in a lightweight package and we’ve nailed that target with Slayer. We’re confident that 2011 Slayer will be one of the best pedaling bikes on the market, while still having classic Rocky Mountain descending capabilities.”

Rocky Mountain has been working steadily on the Slayer redesign project for the last eighteen months. Cogger continues, “We entertained several configurations for the new Slayer and after extensive testing on both machines in our factory and the North Shore with our riders like Wade Simmons and Andreas Hestler, we settled on the design you’ll see at Sea Otter. We’ve already had some strong race results on the bike by French Mega Avalanche star Alex Balaud this spring and it’s really satisfying to see all of our hard work paying off.”

Rocky Mountain will be displaying the full Slayer lineup at booth #242 at Sea Otter next weekend.
