RockShox\’s 2005 Suspension

March 10, 2004 – Due to the tremendous level of interest and curiosity created by the-red-pill.com website promoting RockShox's new '05 Motion Control Damping System, SRAM has decided to “give the people what they want” by pre-releasing vital information about the exciting new '05 RockShox front suspension platforms – Reba and Pike.

Although only a few product managers and lucky test riders have spent time riding the fantastic new forks, the media and consumers now have something to drool over until the official global “Media Camp Gone Wild” ride camp takes place March 29-31, at Boulder City, NV. SRAM Special Agent Greg 'HB' Herbold commented, “We've kept it quiet long enough, and with all the testing and excitement generated at the OE ride camp, it's time to spill the beans.” Media and selected racers will be getting further first-hand test riding experience on the Reba and Pike forks over the next few months at events that include the Sea Otter Classic and Lake Garda festival.

Long regarded as the leader in lightweight suspension, RockShox is back in 2005 with Reba. Designed around a sweet spot of 100mm of travel and 3.5 lbs. (1600g), this platform offers all the features and versatility demanded by today's rider. At the heart of the platform is the all-new Motion Control Damping system. All Reba forks use Air spring technology with external or internal adjustment options.

Throw in the mix the new PopLoc remote adjusters, stiff yet light 32mm upper tubes, and new integrated cable routing for remotes and disc brakes, and you'll see, a new day is dawning.

Setting a new standard, RockShox delivers the Pike.

For years you've heard suspension manufacturers talk about the relationship between weight, stiffness, and travel. At the same time, you've heard from riders wanting longer travel, but aren't willing to accept the weight penalty that comes with it. At 4.75 lbs. (2,155g) and with 140mm of travel, Pike is the perfect fork for All Mountain performance.

The new Motion Control Damping system is offering all users the ability to quickly and (most importantly) easily adjust their suspension to their desired setting. The all new proprietary Maxle found on all Pike forks allows more riders to capitalize on the torsional stiffness benefits that come with a true 20mm thru axle system. Last, but certainly not least, our Award Winning U-Turn spring system allows the rider to quickly and easily adjust the travel from 95mm to 140mm.
