Robert Brisson’s Brother Seeks Public Help

October 27, 2006 (Montreal, QC) – Canadian Press and LCN.Canoe have reported that the police are still investigating the hit-and-run death of well-known Quebec cyclist Robert Brisson, who was killed while returning home from work last Friday on his bike. Brisson was apparently struck by a pale-coloured, 45-foot tractor trailer on Fairway Street in the Lachine industrial park. Brisson’s bike was found some two kilometres away. The truck driver, who remains at large, reputedly stopped to pull the bike out from under the truck undercarriage before continuing on his way.

Brisson’s brother, Martin, is appealing to the public for leads, pointing out that the place where the incident took place is well-travelled. Presumably, someone saw something that could help police in their investigation. Surveillance cameras on a nearby building have apparently captured part of the drama.

Martin Brisson describes his brother as a very experienced cyclist. The 43 year-old victim is survived by his wife, Sylvie, and two children, aged nine and eleven. The family has erected a cross at the scene of the accident.

According to the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, 114 cyclists were killed in the province over the past six years. Seven of these were killed by hit-and-run drivers.
