April 12, 2008 – Mike Nash didn’t break the course record of 33:45.9, but he put on a pretty nice display of power on his was to winning yet another stage of the Ride with Rendall/Peak Winter Series. After the stage, Nash commented how he left nothing and risked everything by going out fast. While he didn’t fade or blow up, Nash averaged an incredible 402 watts on his way to a time of 34:07.4. Second place went to Nash’s RWR teammate, Marc Boudreau, whose blistering time of 35:46.7 was overshadowed only by Nash’s incredible ride, but should not to be forgotten. Third place went to Ron Amos with a time of 7:00.8. Amos has had a consistent winter series and his growing form should pay dividends once he hits the roads outside.
In the women’s category, the record was not broken either, but once again we were treated to a solid ride. Elite triathlete, Cynthia Wilson put the final touches on her winter training by setting the fastest time on Stage 17’s time trial course. Her time of 39:01.7 was over a minute faster than second place rider Tenille Hoogland. Hoogland still managed a solid ride of 40:19.5 to safely secure second. Third place went to Steven’s road rider Wendy Blagdon, who turned in a time of 42:27.0.
With one last stage to go, and with the stage returning to the extended time trial course, riders have one more chance to, in the words of Mike Nash, leave nothing and risk everything for the final bragging rights.
