February 9, 2007 – Stage 9 presented riders with an unrelenting climb. With riders taking on a continuous 26km hill climb, on paper, the course looked to favour the lighter riders in the peleton, but what played out was much different. Locked in a battle for the GC lead, the series big guns came out firing, leaving the rest of the field behind. From the word go, Warren MacDonald, bent on taking back the leaders jersey, set an unbelievable pace to finish with a time of 51:21.9. Warren looked to be on track for his 5th stage win until a late surge by Marc Boudreau stole the winner’s positon with a time of 50:49.3.
In the women’s field, Sue Schlatter continued her streak of wins when she finished with the 4th fastest time overall on the stage. Behind Sue, Cynthia Wilson and Tenille Hoogland were locked in a fight for 2nd until the steeper pitches came into play. In the end, Cynthia took second, with Tenille third.
