December 12, 2008 – Warren MacDonald (EMD/Serono; 42:26.2) wasted little time in establishing himself as a rider to watch in Stage 1 of the RWR/ Peak Winter Series. The series, now in it’s fifth year, returned to various centres across Canada. Riders faced a challenging rolling course that was for many, the first ride indoors this season. While some riders were using the stage to as the start of their winter training, others showed up to race. The Peak Centre’s Casey Roth had a strong ride to finish second with a time of 45:31.4. Third place went to Vancouver’s Tony Zachery who followed in closely with a time of 47:09.0.

In the women’s Field, Tenille Hoogland (47:29.5) picked up were she left off last year and placed fifth overall while taking the women’s category win. Second place went to Ottawa’s rider Dianne Marleau (RWR) with Vancouver’s Alison Setton finishing one second behind Dianne in third.
