Request for Proposals – Ontario Cup DH Series

release by the OCA

October 28, 2010 – The OCA is seeking organizers for the Ontario Cup Downhill Series in 2011 and 2012. The series organizer will organize between 5 and 7 Ontario Cup downhill races. The objective of the Ontario Cup (O-Cup) Events is to provide high-level competition for all levels of athletes. The O-Cup Events have their own unique point structure and this is used to rank athletes and identify candidates for specific high performance projects. O-Cup points series winners are recognized as per the OCA awards policy at the end of the season. The Provincial Championships are historically the final event of the season.

An objective of the DH O-Cup Series is to raise the awareness and increase ridership within the Downhill Mountain bike Series in Ontario. An Ontario Cup race must conform to strict guidelines determined by the OCA including but not limited to start order, schedules and race times. Course and facility requirements are more stringent than at other events. A DH Ontario Cup event must be a mountain bike downhill race. Other racing may also be included in the race format. DH Ontario Cup events have date protection from other DH events. The OCA in its sole discretion may make exceptions to this rule if the competing event is a reasonable distance away.

Please submit your application which addresses the following items:
– Marketing of the series
– Sponsorship proposal
– Business history
– Plans to grow the sport and sustain current riders
