May 13, 2014 (Brackendale, BC) – Saturday saw over 300 riders take to the trails of Brackendale, BC, just up the road from Canada’s Outdoor Recreation Capital – Squamish. Racers contested three laps of a slick and relentlessly rooty approximately 12km loop.

Sandra Walter (Liv/giant Canada) took her third consecutive Ore Crusher win in the pro/elite women’s category. Team Whistler’s Chloe Cross snagged second spot, and Petra Tlamkova (ELEVEN-RUBENA TEST TEAM) cruised into third place.

In the pro/elite men’s race, it was a heated battle between wily vet Kris Sneddon (Kona) and local Squamish young gun Quinn Moburg (Rocky Mountain Factory Team). In the end, the laurels went to Sneddon, but Moburg is well on his way to stepping onto the top podium spot. Third place went to Squamish local Greg Day (Rocky Mountain Factory Team).

Saturday’s event also hosted the first race of the new Cycling BC Youth MTB Series. Over two dozen youth racers participated in the two-lap event.
