October 26, 2008 (Red Deer Cross, AB) – The course at Red Deer College offered some unique an interesting terrain for cyclocross racing in Alberta. With a 60m long sand pit section and some great wooded sections the course offered challenges for everyone. The main deciding factor of the day was the wind. Winds blew up at gale force strength out of the west and brought sand storms with them making the racing closer than usual in the Elite Men’s race as it was harder for a single rider to escape. Tim Heemskerk (AB) United Cycle Racing, a favourite on the Alberta scene kept his winning ways as he broke away on the 3rd lap and held on to take the win.
