June, 2003 (Boston, MA) – The second annual Red Bull Bike Battle assaults Boston City Hall with the most progressive mountain bike riders in the world on Saturday, September 27, 2003.
Red Bull Bike Battle takes urban riding a step beyond what is thought to be possible on a bicycle, creating a new forum for riders to showcase both technical ability and style.
The urban 'freeride' cycling movement has become increasingly popular, with cycling enthusiasts opting to tackle the challenging terrain right outside of their doors instead of driving hours to the mountains.
Red Bull Bike Battle provides a rare opportunity to descend upon the distinctive landscape of Boston City Hall, which is usually off limits to bikes. Along side the natural urban obstacles, the riders will encounter cars, dumpsters, ramps, concrete barriers, dirt jumps, ladder bridges and more!
MOJO MATTERS
Red Bull Bike Battle competitors will be judged in five areas: use of course, magnitude of moves, flow, style, and technical. Each rider will have one seating run and then will be paired off into a single elimination head to head battle for two minutes. The best rider from each round will advance until there is one champion left standing.
32 of the most insane urban freeriders from around the globe are coming to Boston to battle it out for the $5,000 prize purse. Get there early to stake out your spot!
