January 31, 2013 – Danish cyclist Michael Rasmussen (Christina Watches-Onfone) has admitted to doping with performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) between 1998 and 2010. Rasmussen told a press conference that he took testosterone and growth hormones and underwent blood transfusions. He is also retiring immediately from the sport and offering to cooperate fully with anti-doing authorities.

Rasmussen, 38, has already served a two-year ban from the sport for evading doping controls – while wearing the yellow jersey – at the 2007 Tour de France. He was also famously sacked by his then team, Rabobank, for not properly disclosing his whereabouts to the UCI. Rasmussen, a climber, finished seventh at the 2005 TdF and also seventh in the 2003 Vuelta. He also won the MTB World Championships in 1999.
