Quebec Rider Alexandre Morin Missing

February 16, 2007 (Quebec City) – Alexandre Morin, a promising 16-year-old cyclist, disappeared on Wednesday while apparently out jogging. Le Soleil de Quebec and le Journal de Quebec have both reported Morin’s disappearance in the suburb of Sillery during a big snow storm which raises the possibility that he was hit by a car and perhaps is buried by a snow drift. In the area where Morin goes jogging, approximately 300 volunteers were out probing local snow banks.

Jean-Pierre Morin, the boy’s father, described Alexandre as being very happy, conscientious, and very motivated. He was due to leave for France on February 22 for a two-week training camp. The family holds out very little hope that their son is still alive.

Alexandre Morin distinguished himself during the 2006 Mardis Cyclistes de Lachine Saputo junior Lait’s Go series with his surprise win in the fourth stage on June 28 in Montreal.
