Quarq Launches DZero Platform – Reach A Higher Level

release by SRAM

October 14, 2016 – Quarq, the company that revolutionized the bicycle power meter a decade ago, has now launched DZero, the next-generation power meter platform that combines 10 years of accumulated Quarq advances with new features and a simplified product line.

Quarq’s new platform is named for the DZero Experiment, one of science’s most accurate and innovative projects to detect subatomic particles moving at the speed of light. The name fits with the mission of Quarq, which takes its name from the elementary particle that has never been observed or isolated.

With a new measurement circuit, a revised strain gauge design, improved accuracy throughout the pedal stroke and software advances built into the Qalvin App, DZero represents the state of the art in power meter technology.

Other new features include:
– Dual Bluetooth low energy technology and ANT+, letting you choose how to capture the data.
– A simplified product line, making it easier to choose and install the right power meter for your bike.
– Increased compatibility, including Boost 148 (52mm chainline) mountain bikes and BB386EVO bottom brackets.
– Competitive prices, thanks to 10 years of manufacturing advances.

Like its Quarq brethren, the new DZero platform measures power in the heart of the bicycle — the crankset spider, scientifically proven to be the most accurate place to measure power.

DZero power meters inherit 10K temperature compensation, easy-to-replace batteries, OmniCal (change chainrings without affecting accuracy), AxCad (accelerometer cadence – no magnet), an IPX7 waterproof rating aand a 2-year-warranty.

In addition, Quarq is partnering with original equipment bicycle manufacturers to build bikes with Quarq Prime Power Ready Cranksets that can be easily upgraded with the addition of a Quarq DZero power meter spider.

“Bicycle dealers will like the Quarq Prime/DZero combination because it simplifies their inventory,” said Jim Meyer, Quarq’s Technology Director. “And we know that more bicyclists, in every discipline, are turning to power meters to reach the next level in training and competition. We wanted to make it as easy as possible, especially for riders new to power meters, to select a state-of-the-art power meter.”
