December 4, 2003 – The Pure Determination Fund is a new initiative of the Dairy Farmers of Canada, in partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee. It aims to support Olympic hopefuls in individual or team sports, who need financial assistance in achieving a podium placing at international competitions to achieve a top six ranking in the world.

Through the Fund, awards valued at $10,000 will be distributed to selected up and coming athletes to be used specifically for training purposes (sessions with highly recognized coaches, participation at top level competitions, etc).

Who can apply? * Athletes training to compete in Olympic events * National Teams members, Development Programs/training Groups athletes * Athletes ranked 6th or better in their sport's world rankings are not eligible.

What are the selection criteria? The main selection criteria will be the athletes' progression in their sport in the twelve months preceding their application. Depending on the sport, appropriate international or national individual rankings will be used as the yardstick.
