March 3, 2009 – Peter Appleton of Sirbikealot Racing and Promotions would like some feedback on his proposal for free off-season gym training clinics for DH, 4X and Super D in Burlington, Ontario in March. Appleton has recognized a lack of proper training opportunities available to DH, 4X and Super D racers in Ontario.
I was lucky enough when I was racing hard to get help from National and International level racers and coaches. After speaking with lots of awesome Ontario racers many of them in the DH, 4X and Super D disciplines are not clear on how to train for their sport. I would like to take what I’ve learned over many many years and give it back to those interested.
How/Where: 1 or 2 off-season race clinics would take place at a Gym in Burlington. Topics would include:
– Self assessment
– Race fitness
– Planning a training week/month/season
– Nutrition
– basic/intermediate/advanced on bike training techniques
– basic/intermediate/advanced off bike training techniques
– strength and stretching techniques
– Racing and recovery
Cost: This will essentially be free (a small cost of $5 may be required to access the gym but that is it).
RSVP: If you are interested please respond to via email info@sirbikealotracing.com, dates are TBA but likely fall somewhere Mar. 16-23 (likely an evening and sat afternoon option).
There will be only about 10-15 spots per session, so it will be first come first serve.
