August 17, 2012 (Denver, CO) – Team SpiderTech boasts both Canadian and American Road race champions as Timmy Duggan is bringing his stars and stripes U.S. national champion jersey to Canadian-based Team SpiderTech powered by C10 for the 2013 season and beyond.
With a new three-year commitment from title sponsor SpiderTech Inc., the pro-continental Team SpiderTech continues to strengthen and broaden its roster in anticipation of reaching the WorldTour by 2014, and Duggan’s opportunistic racing style fits perfectly with the team’s strategy.
“I’m very excited to welcome Timmy aboard,” said Team SpiderTech owner and director Steve Bauer. “Timmy rides with panache which has earned him the respect of legions of fans around the world and his scrappy, exciting style aligns perfectly with our vision of winning races and drawing in new fans.”Duggan, 29, spent the last two seasons racing for the Italian Liquigas-Cannondale team and the two years before that racing for Garmin. He has thus far had a stellar 2012 season, dominating the front of the peloton in support of stage wins during the Tour of California in May, winning the USPRO national championship road race in June with a bold 25-km solo attack and then racing for the U.S. team at the London Olympic Games.
“I’m thrilled to join Team SpiderTech in 2013,” said Duggan. “I already know a bunch of the guys on the squad so it’s a comfortable move and this is a team that’s really on the way up. Steve (Bauer) has accomplished a lot at the highest level of the sport so for me there is no doubt about the team’s quality of leadership and passion for winning.”
Duggan joins fellow notable American riders Lucas Euser, Caleb Fairly and Pat McCarty as well as European riders Brian Vandborg and Raymond Künzli as the Canadian-based Team SpiderTech continues to expand its international roster.
“We’re especially excited to match Timmy’s U.S. national road champion jersey with Ryan Roth’s Canadian national road champion jersey as Team SpiderTech has truly become an international squad with a growing global fan base,” said Bauer. “We’ve had a great 2012 and are excited about 2013 with some real fireworks ahead.”
There will be more exciting news from Team SpiderTech in the coming weeks as the 2013 roster continues to take shape.
