Pro Cycling Tour New Look Merchandise

February 11, 2005 – Championship Concessions, a Debi Detwiler Associates company, has been chosen as this year’s exclusive merchandiser for the Pro Cycling Tour and Wachovia Cycling Series and plans to produce a totally new look for this year’s cycling season. The Pro Cycling Tour includes The Wachovia Cycling Series, Lancaster, PA, Trenton, NJ, and Philadelphia, PA, May 31 to June 5; and the San Francisco Grand Prix, September 4.

Debi Detwiler, president of Championship Concessions, has created logoed merchandise for the corporate promotional products market for nineteen years, locally in Philadelphia and on a national level. The move into event merchandising is a natural one as her experience in product selection, according to Detwiler, will translate into higher sales for the event sponsor and event management team.

“We have developed a successful strategy for translating sponsors objectives into premium items that the spectators will really want to buy,” says Detwiler. “It’s our job to design products that will attract the most attention from the 500,000 possible consumers who will be at the event. I can tell you we are definitely supplying terrific T-shirts and cow bells — even if the bells drive some people crazy — the riders will know the spectators are there!”

According to Threshold’s chief operating office, Jerry Casale, “Our race fans love to collect our event merchandise. I’m always amazed to see our T-Shirts walking around the country — whether it’s from last year or 20 years ago — I guess people have got to have them. That’s why we’re putting a bigger effort this year into making our stuff available on our website and why we’ve chosen to work with Debi.”
