April 22, 2012 (Alanya, Turkey) – The 8-stage Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey got underway on Sunday with the 135km Stage 1 in Alanya won by Theo Bos (Ned) Rabobank Cycling Team over Matthew Harley Goss (Aus) GreenEDGE Cycling Team in second with Daniele Colli (Ita) Team Type 1-Sanofi in third. Canada’s Will Routley (SpiderTech p/b C10) was in a 7-rider break that had an 8+ min lead at one point but was caught near the end as Bos won the final sprint while behind a crash behind marred the finish of the first stage.
