June 8, 2010 (Midland, ON) – Plastiglas Ontario Cup XC #4 took place in Midland at Mountain View on Sunday with race favourites Emily Batty (ON) Trek World Team and Derek Zandstra (ON) 3 Rox Racing scoring wins in the elite women’s and men’s competitions, respectively. Stacey Forbes (Coach Chris.ca/Ted Velikonja) and Evan McNeely (EMD Serono-Specialized CC) received top honours in the junior women’s and men’s races. Full results here.

Plastiglas Ontario Cup #4 Report by Chico Racing
Only the tough, brave and strong came out to conquer the elements at Plastiglas Ontario Cup #4 in Midland. Course conditions, along with the weather, improved throughout the day as we went from slick conditions to very good conditions for the 1:30 pm race.

Canadian National Team Members Derek Zandstra, 3 Rox Racing and Andrew Watson, Norco Performance Bikes were both fresh off amazing rides at the Canada Cup at Hardwood the weekend prior and looking forward to come back to their roots. U23 Rider Jacob McClelland, Team Hardwood ran head to head against Canada’s best, even putting a lead on them on lap #2, until Derek and Andrew finally pulled away. Derek took the win with Andrew finishing second and Jacob in third.

The women’s elite race saw World Cup Phenom Emily Batty of Trek World Racing take the win over 3 Rox Racing’s Amanda Sinn with Tricia K. Spooner, Stevens’ Racing in 3rd. Evan McNeely, EMD Serono-Specialized showed his talent by beating local rider Bretton Matthews, of Jetpower in the Junior Expert Men’s race followed by Karl Hoppner also of EMD Serono-Specialized. In the Junior Expert Women’s category Stacey Forbes of Coach Chris.ca took the win followed by Samantha Wagler, Two Wheel Express and Emily Flynn of EMD Serono.
