April 26, 2007 – This Saturday/Sunday the Plastiglas Ontario Cup MTB-XC Series (Hosted by Chico Racing) will kick off with the Mansfield O-Cup.
With a large number of athletes expecting to participate in this opening event the OCA would like to pass along a few notes to riders participating in the event to make sure it goes as smooth as possible.
If you do not have your OCA license as of yet, CALL THE OCA OFFICE IMMEDIATELY to get any problem(s) worked out. Some members who have completed the online registration have failed to choose clubs, send in waivers or provide payment, all of which will delay the processing of your license and slow down the processing of licenses behind you. A list of problem applications is listed here with updates being made daily.
Secondly if you have yet to apply for your license, you may do so by using the online system, calling the OCA office and providing information over the phone or requesting a license form be emailed or faxed to you. Due to the event being less than 10 days away, there will be a $20 rush fee for anyone who has not yet applied for their license.
Thirdly to make things easier on race day for both riders and registration, if you are pre-riding the course on Saturday, plan to register for the race on this day or arrange to pick up your OCA license (previously printed)/plate (if applicable). Doing this will cause less lineups on Sunday.
As at all MTB-XC O-Cups, the OCA will be selling Citizen Permits and One Event (One Days) Permits throughout the weekend. Citizen Permits can be used for any U17 category (Except Expert) and both beginner male/female categories and Try an O-Cup Categories. One Event Permits are allowed for any entry level category (no Expert or Elite) at a cost of either $5 or $10 (depending on the category).
If you have any further questions about OCA licensing, or One Event Permits please contact the Ontario Cycling Association Offices (open Monday-Friday from 9:00-4:30) at 416.426.7416.
