January 27, 2007 (Copperas Cove, Texas) – Phil Cortes (Calyon/Litespeed) finished second, a few inches behind Phill Wikoff (Team Hotel San Jose) last weekend on January 20 at the TBi Copperas Cove Classic, the first Texas road race of 2007. The 140-km race in Coppers Cove, Texas, was held in chilly weather – only 2 degrees celsius. Cortes was among eight cyclists who made a break after 4km – the peloton never managed to catch them. Zach Siocca (ATnT) finished third.
