December 26, 2016 (Toronto, ON) – Voting is well underway for Pedal Magazine‘s Annual Cycling Awards for 2016 honouring Canada’s top riders in all categories from this past season.
The race for Best Overall Cyclist (Male or Female) is a 3-way battle between the Men’s Team Pursuit squad out front with Ryan Roth, Catherine Pendrel and Antoine Duchesne chasing hard.
Meanwhile Ed Veal has the pole position in the duel for the Best Overall Senior/U23 Male Cyclist but in hot pursuit are Roth and Alec Cowan. It’s a 3-way battle for Best Overall Senior/U23 Female Cyclist with Pendrel, Batty and the Women’s Team Pursuit squad neck and neck.
Stefan Ritter is leading the Junior Men but Nickolas Zukowsky and Gunnar Holmgren are giving him a run for his money. The Junior Women’s category has three challengers with Simone Boilard out front followed closely by Maggie Coles-Lyster and Erin Atwell.
Pendrel leads the Best MTB XC Senior/U23 Cyclist (Male or Female) category while Hugo Barrette is locked in a head-on battle with the Men’s Team Pursuit squad for the Best Track Senior Cyclist (Male or Female) award.
Raphael Gagné has the early lead in the Best CX Senior/U23 Cyclist (Male or Female) category while Tory Nyhaug has a strong start for the BMX award. Daniel Chalifour (Visually Impaired) and Jean Michel Lachance (Tandem Pilot) are out front in the Best Paracycling Cyclist (Male or Female) with Tristen Chernove and Shelley Gautier hot on their heels.
It’s too early to call anything so don’t miss your chance to make your voice heard and recognize ALL of the top talent in Canada from juniors, to seniors, to U23’s and paracyclists – from all disciplines including road, MTB, DH, cyclocross, track and BMX.

Winners will be selected on the basis of votes tallied from across the country at pedalmag.com. All entrants are eligible to win one of three prizes:
