April 16, 2007 (Peterborough, Ontario) – The Pedal for Hope tour begins on April 23, 2007, as eleven police officers and one ex-NHL hockey player will be riding 1,000 kms over three weeks to to reach out to children in fifty schools.
The goal is to raise awareness and understanding for the children in the area that are battling cancer as well as to raise funds for cancer research. All proceeds go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society and will be used specifically for pediatric cancer research.
This is the third year of Pedal for Hope and the ride has raised over $200,000 in its first two years an we are anticipating that this year’s tour will be even more successful. Simply put, Pedal for Hope is a high energy blend of education, fundraising, and bonding with the children that has gained momentum each year and enjoyed tremendous community and media support.
We are sponsored by Shimano, Subway, Tim Horton’s and KNEX, as well as having hundreds of smaller businesses contributing to our cause.
Pedal for Hope has evolved from Cops for Cancer which caught on across the country and has branched out to the London area and our projected goal is to have the program spread across the province within the next four years.
