March 28, 2013 (Toronto, ON) – Pedal’s blockbuster season-launch Annual 2013 Buyer’s Guide was released earlier this month with our new Guide format featuring over 100 photos of some of the hottest rides for 2013 along with brief text, rather than our traditional listing of every bicycle’s specs. We’re pleased to announce that most of the feedback has been two thumbs up.
We kept the same categories as in the past but simplified the price breaks showing models from under $3,000, from $3,000 to $6,000 and finally over $6,000. The season-launch issue features Part 1: Road and Specialty Bikes with two sections for Road – Competition and Endurance – and multiple Specialty sections including hybrids, urban, beach, comfort, cyclocross, triathlon, track, time-trial, folding, electric, tandem and single-speed bikes.
Part 2 highlights MTB/BMX Bikes that will be featured in Pedal Spring 2013 lauching soon, with the same categories as last year – Cross-country, All-Mountain, DH-Freeride and Dirt Jump/Street for MTB and 24″ Cruiser, BMX, Freestyle, and Jumping for BMX…
We appreciate all comments and know some readers really value our traditional style of listing all bikes in the marketplace by category and price and we’re looking at options to have both styles next year with perhaps the listings appearing on our web site. Here are a few comments we received…
Just to tell you that I found the new edition of PEDAL mag very attractive. I love the new Buyer’s Guide format and wish you all the best with everything.

Just wanted to drop you a line and congratulate you on a fantastic buyers guide. The photos of all the new bikes made me want to go to a bike shop and buy one! This is your best buyers guide to date. Cheers.

In the past your Buyer’s Guides have offered a complete list of all of the bikes available in Canada in the various categories. I found this list REALLY useful to compare bikes in a particular price category. Past issues are also really useful to know the value of old used bikes and if an asking price is reasonable. I know this is still done for skis in SkiTrax Magazine and I absolutely depend on it when buying skiis. It would be great if you could either put this list back in the mag or at least post it on your website.

We’re also pleased to welcome the legendary Alex Stieda – the first North American to wear the famed Tour de France yellow jersey – to the Pedal family of writers with his new column, Sportif Stieda. Also joining the team is Paralympic gold medalist Robbi Weldon, who kicks off another exciting new column called Inside Paracycling.
Our season-launch issue is chock-full of great features, from our urban report on keeping your bike safe, to an overview of helmets, to why Victoria, B.C. says it’s the cycling capitol of Canada.
The issue also heralds the Milton Velodrome, a world-class facility, and we’re stoked to be a part of this milestone and live the dream so to speak. We urge all readers to support the new velodrome and help raise the remaining $5 million needed to complete it.
So pick up the current issue and let us know your thoughts… as the saying goes, a picture is worth a 1,000 words. On that note, we wish everyone a great season of riding ahead. See you at the finish line.
