March 13, 2007 (Montreal, QC) – Tragedy struck on October 20, 2006 when Montreal cyclist, Robert Brisson was killed in an unsolved hit-and-run accident. Montreal’s Peak Centre, where Brisson worked, is organizing a cyclothon to raise funds for Brisson’s young family.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, March 18. The centre, situated at 6982 Cote de Liesse, will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day and visitors should bring in their road bikes to put them on one of the centre’s 20 CompuTrainers.
One hour sessions will be charged $20 (cash is requested) and this will be sent directly to Brisson’s family. Reservations (514-341-7325) are recommended because of the limited number of trainers. Free parking is available behind the centre at the corner of Merizi and Cote de Liesse.
March 18 also commemorates the Peak Centre’s (www.peakcentremontreal.ca) first anniversary in business in Montreal. The Peak Centre for Human Performance (www.peakcentre.ca) addresses athletes from many sports – including cycling – and operates centres in Canada in Ottawa, Victoria, Vancouver, and Montreal. There are also centres in Dublin, Ireland, and in Houston, Texas.
