May 12, 2003 – Polish racer Bartosz Huzarski (Mroz) won today's stage, after a 200 kilometre solo breakaway, finishing five minutes in front of the peloton. Huzarski attacked after 13 kilometres, aiming to take the first sprint bonus at 15K and decided to keep going. A long rainy day for the peloton resulted in the pole finishing far in front of the pack, but was not a G.C. threat. Canada's Charles Dionne (Saturn) finished once more in the gallop to the line, taking 14th.
