May 6, 2008 (Montevideo, Uruguay) – He may have been forced to miss the Scratch race that was rescheduled without notice, but nothing could stop Canadian hard man, Svein Tuft (Symmetrics), as he won his second Pan Am gold in the Points race today. Tuft’s team mate Zach Bell finished fourth. While in the past Tuft’s efforts on the track have been limited to the pursuit and Madison, his win today showcases another side of the Langley, B.C. rider’s diverse skill set. This win should go a long way to silencing any critics who may have dismissed his track riding.
While full results are unavailable, we know that Tuft edged out an American rider for the title, with a Chilean finishing third. Zach Bell gave notice that Canada will be a major threat in the Madison with his 4th place performance. According to Denise Kelly who is on site, the two Canadians showcased great teamwork en route to Tuft’s victory.
