June 4, 2006 (São Paulo, Brazil) — Here are live reports of the Women’s Road Race from the CCA’s Kris Westwood at the Pan Am Championships in Brazil.

The women’s 90km RR just started at the Pan Am Championships in Indaiatuba, outside Sao Paulo, Brazil. Canada has Erinne Willock, Erin Carter and Mandy Poitras on the start line. Audrey Lemieux was supposed to start but problems with her flight connections kept her from getting to Sao Paulo on time.

Lap 1
After lap 1 of 6 of the women’s RR the peloton is together and all three Canadians are there.

Lap 2
End of lap 2, no change.

Lap 3
End of lap 3 (half way), Erin Carter has stopped as planned (she’s preparing for the track). There’s a small split in the pack but the other two Canadians are in front.

Lap 4
No change after lap 4.

One lap to go in the women’s Pan Am Championship road race, and the pack is still together with Canadians Mandy Poitras and Erinne Willock still present. Unless the race breaks up on the short climbs the race will end with an uphill sprint.

Unofficial result at the Pan Am women’s road race has Mandy Poitras 6th and Erinne Willock 10th.
